Spring Sportfishing:
The boat splashes down at the beginning of April in preparation for charters beginning mid-month. April and May are spent filling the cooler with nice catches of brown trout, rainbows, steelhead, cohos, and spring king salmon. This time of year offers rapid rod-popping action while fishing on the beach in 8-12 feet of water. Because most species of trout and salmon are all chasing bait in the warm water, when the rod fires, you never know what’s on the other end!
Summer Fishing:
The summer is spent chasing kings as they work pods of bait off-shore. This time of year can produce some beauties, as well as some nice consistent activity by staying on the kings, or moving to a Plan B program of summer browns, rainbows, or lakers. Summer allows to focus on a number of species individually, whether it be kings, browns, steelhead and rainbows, or bottom-dwelling lunker lake trout.
Fall Fishing:
The fall salmon fishing outside the Genesee River is typically excellent right through October, with bonus off-shore limit catches of steelhead and rainbow trout mixed in. Depending on what each customer wants, we are able to focus on the trophies in-shore, or consistent tail-walking action off-shore.
As you can see, there really is no bad time to fish out of Rochester aboard the Reel Action III. Give Capt. Tom a call to discuss what time of year is best for you, and to book your dates early.
Good fishing,
Capt. Tom
